Athlete-powered Web3 platform Blockasset has achieved a world-first in creating a cross-chain NFT release, in collaboration with World Heavyweight boxing Champion, Oleksandr Usyk.
An initial release of 2,000 items of digital art, commemorating the notorious career of the Ukrainian fighter, was released to the Solana community last Friday raising more than $50,000 for the Usyk Foundation, in a matter of hours.
Blockasset will now power their objective to raise more than $2,000,000 in funds for the Usyk Foundation by endeavouring to release further editions cross-chain.
In support of raising as much as possible for the Usyk Foundation, Blockasset is primed to facilitate other blockchain networks’ involvement in the campaign prior to Usyk’s World title defence against Anthony Joshua on August 20.
Designed by world-renowned artist Dosbrak, Usyk’s NFT collection articulates standout moments from his undefeated professional career, with glimpses of the Ukrainian’s infectious character and love for his home country.
Speaking ahead of his upcoming world title rematch against Anthony Joshua, Usyk said, “I hope that this cooperation with Blockasset, which is very strong in the NFT market, will help to raise a substantial amount for our charitable foundation,
I really like the NFT collection that Dosbrak has created!”
The Usyk Foundation will use the funds raised by this campaign to provide shelter and essentials such as medical supplies, food and hygiene items to people who have been affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
On behalf of Blockasset, Paul Evans, CEO said, “We’re delighted to be able to help Oleksandr raise funds for the Usyk Foundation through our latest NFT drop. We’re very confident that by bringing blockchain communities together, we can make a substantial contribution”.
A number of rare physical items, such as signed original Dosbrak prints and autographed Oleksandr Usyk gloves will be awarded to holders of the rarest NFTs from the mint.
Alluding to the success with Blockasset’s recent Legends and Smesh Bros. drops, Evans continued, “We made history with our previous NFT drops, with Legends setting the record for the highest-grossing sports NFT drop on Solana and Smesh Bros. selling out in record time. Working hand-in-hand with Oleksandr, we will make further history and support the vital work of the Usyk Foundation”.
